Get to Know Dr. Diana LeBlanc!

When did you know that you wanted to become an OB-GYN? What got you interested in infertility? What inspired you to become a strong advocate for Natural and Minimal Stimulation IVF?

I have always been an advocate for women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights, so it was natural for me to become an OBGYN. The infertility interest was more accidental. I realized that infertility patients have to rely on research to get through the plethora of information available on the web, then often navigate a maze of protocols in clinics. There is a gap in the infertility treatment, and the answer doesn’t always lie in conventional IVF. A more measured, lower to higher complexity therapy is often possible. We need to advocate for our patients to clearly explain the options, the likelihood of success, the risks involved, and the limitations of the therapies.

How did practicing in Dubai and Europe help you become the doctor you are today?

Growing up, studying and practicing in different parts of the world, has given me a better grasp on the diversity of medical approaches within different healthcare systems. More importantly, it allowed me a deeper awareness of cultural sensitivities and the understanding that patient’s experiences, beliefs, and values affect their acceptance of the diagnosis and their perception of the clinical care they receive. Ultimately, no matter their background or their level of education, patients trust us to be their advocate and help them make the best decision possible, so we owe them effective communication and transparency.

Where did you practice before coming to Hanabusa IVF?

Living and working overseas allowed for personal and professional advancement, it was also immensely enriching for my family. When the time came to come back to the US, I felt privileged to join Hanabusa IVF.

Hanabusa’s inclusive culture promotes a sense of belonging and allows individuals to be engaged and motivated to provide the best patient experience possible.
